Have you read any of the Old Testament? You will see that many prophets saw God. Rather, manifestations of God. Moses, Isaiah etc.
Jesus is no different than the other manifestations of God, except that He was God manifest in human flesh. So, we cannot see the invisible omnipresent God, but He can reveal Himself to us in revelations/manifestations. These revelations of God are no less God for that.
There is another side to this, which again it will be clear that Jesus is God. God told Moses that no man can look on His face and live. We know that this same God is Jesus because in the New Testament we see that Jesus dwells in the light that no man can approach unto. And in another place we see that His enemies will be consumed by the brightness of His(Jesus Christ) coming. Finally the scriptures say that we will be made like Him, so that we can see Him as we is. Without this we could not look on Christ in his unveiled glory. This will happen at the rapture.
